Campaign Asia-Pacific’s opening remarks

Welcome to Women Leading Change 2019, an event bringing together exceptional talent and recognising the leaders propelling the industry forward and driving diversity and gender equality in the workplace.

The APAC Diversity Survey: three years in

In 2017, Campaign Asia-Pacific and Kantar embarked on the first-ever APAC gender diversity survey for the media, marketing and advertising industry. The results were startling and a wake-up call to all. Over the past three years, WLC has continued on its mission for more balanced workforces in Asia-Pacific.

What do the 2019 results reveal about the progress of our strategy for change? Plus, what will the new questions around diversity, inclusion and sexual harassment reveal about the current state of play?

Empowering change champions and driving business-wide change

Getting the whole organisation embracing and supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives is a challenge. The onus is on individuals to embrace diversity through their work, their creativity and through any business they interact with in their future. For business leaders, there needs to be an organisation-wide engagement strategy.

This panel discussion brings together the experts to work on a solution and look at initiatives that really work

Mandate for Change: GroupM and Havas Group

Three years in and the industry has made great progress in its mission for more diverse workforces in Asia. In this session we reflect back and look forward with a snapshot into the progress so far.

What positive results have each agency group seen when it comes to productivity, to leadership recruitment and employee empowerment? What challenges have they encountered along the way and what’s the next big goal?

Be brave to lead #LikeAGirl

One common misconception is that to be a good leader, women must learn to lead ‘like a man’, i.e. women should mirror the male leadership techniques and skills which have dominated business and the world’s governments for centuries. But great leadership comes in many forms. Role models like Jacinda Ardern are going against the grain and using their strengths as a female to lead.

This keynote comes from a CMO with more than 20 years in the corporate world, including 17 years at P&G where she led the iconic ‘Always Like a Girl,’ the most viral viewed ad of 2015 and winner of 14 Cannes awards.
