Stephanie Phang

Stephanie Phang is managing editor for Southeast Asia at Bloomberg News. She manages a region of more than 100 reporters and editors, who cover news across asset classes, industries and markets in Asia using multiple platforms and formats.
Steph was previously the Singapore bureau chief, overseeing one of Bloomberg’s biggest bureaus in Asia. She was also Economy team leader for Southeast Asia and Australia/New Zealand, overseeing the economic news coverage of 8 economies.
Steph helped to create Bloomberg’s Women’s Voices project in Asia, which became the New Voices project when it was adopted globally.
Her career at Bloomberg News began in 2002 in Kuala Lumpur, where Stephanie covered the Malaysian economy, business and politics. Stephanie has a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Haverford College, Pennsylvania. Before Bloomberg, she worked for The Edge, Malaysia’s leading financial newspaper.
